JACKIE

dining table / design from 2010 / Joeri Koolhoven

"I designed Jackie after it became known that the planned building of Rem Koolhaas’ M building in The Hague, unfortunately was cancelled"

The frame of the Jackie table consists of five parts, with slanted legs that give just as much stability as the well-known pommel horse. The inclination of the legs is repeated in the table top, which has a bevel in exactly the same angle.
Joeri Koolhoven, “I designed Jackie after it became known that the planned building of Rem Koolhaas’ M building in The Hague, unfortunately was cancelled. The legs have the same shape as one of the two sides in the design by Koolhaas. In this way at least part of Koolhaas’ magnificent design has become reality. The name Jackie pays homage to the style and grace of the late Jackie Kennedy Onassis.”
Because there are no legs in the corners of the table, Jackie is very practical: a group of people can easily sit around it. The stability of the design can also be used to create accompanying benches.
Jackie has practicality and elegance. A special detail is the annual rings of the wood, which are visible on the edges of the table top.
